Book Blood Sweat & Tears
Blood, Sweat & Tears is the American jazz rock group, formed in 1967 in New York City, that put a full horn section at the heart of a rock band. Started by Al Kooper, Bobby Colomby, Steve Katz and Jim Fielder, the group blended rock, pop and soul with big band jazz, and hit its commercial peak after Canadian singer David Clayton-Thomas took the lead mic from 1968 to 1972. Their self-titled second album, Blood, Sweat & Tears, held the top spot on the U.S. album chart for seven weeks in 1969 and won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. It delivered three hits that each climbed to number 2 on the Hot 100: "You've Made Me So Very Happy," "Spinning Wheel" and "And When I Die." The follow-up, Blood, Sweat & Tears 3, also reached number 1. The band won two Grammy Awards from five nominations, including Best Contemporary Instrumental Performance for "Variations on a Theme by Erik Satie." Celebrated for bold reworkings of material from Laura Nyro, Carole King, James Taylor and the Rolling Stones, BS&T brings a powerhouse brass-driven show packed with classic radio hits.
