Book As I Lay Dying
As I Lay Dying is a metalcore band from San Diego, California, whose 2007 album An Ocean Between Us reached number eight on the Billboard 200 and number one on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart. Its single "Nothing Left" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. Founded by singer Tim Lambesis in 2000, the group built its following through Beneath the Encasing of Ashes, Frail Words Collapse and Shadows Are Security before An Ocean Between Us broke them into the mainstream. In 2007 MTV2 named them its Ultimate Metal God on the first All That Rocks special, and they were voted Artist of the Year at the San Diego Music Awards in 2005, 2007 and 2008. The Powerless Rise (2010) drew strong reviews, and Awakened followed in 2012. After a hiatus, the band returned in 2018 with "My Own Grave" and the album Shaped by Fire (2019), followed by Through Storms Ahead (2024) and a self-titled album due in 2027. Their festival résumé includes Wacken Open Air, With Full Force, Soundwave, Warped Tour, Bloodstock Open Air and Taste of Chaos.
