She played her first solo gig at a Sacramento open mic in 2008 and released her independent debut, UnFresh, in 2009, featuring the single "Dreamland" with rapper Blu. Her reputation as a player earned her a spot as singer and guitarist in Prince's New Power Generation in 2011. Writing with Prince on tour, she co-created three songs for her 2012 album Superconductor, which debuted at No. 1 on Amazon's Soul and R&B charts in several countries. She also sang on Prince's Art Official Age, including co-lead vocals on two tracks, and appeared on Hit n Run Phase Two, and she released Oui Can Luv in 2015. On screen, she had a recurring role on The Game, appeared in Pitch Perfect 3 (2017) and starred as Nora in Amazon's Upload, and in 2026 she competed on Next Level Chef with Team Gordon Ramsay.
