Book American Aquarium
American Aquarium is an alternative country band from Raleigh, North Carolina, founded in 2006 and led by singer, guitarist and songwriter BJ Barham. Named after a lyric in the Wilco song "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart," the band built its reputation the hard way, playing some 250 shows a year and growing a fan base well beyond its home state. Their catalog began with Antique Hearts (2006) and The Bible & The Bottle (2008), followed by Dances for the Lonely (2009), home to the fan favorite "I Hope He Breaks Your Heart," and Small Town Hymns (2010). Burn.Flicker.Die. (2012) earned the strongest critical praise of their career. Barham and a rebuilt lineup carried the band forward with Wolves (2015), Things Change (2018), Lamentations (2020), the two-volume covers project Slappers, Bangers & Certified Twangers (2021), Chicamacomico (2022), The Fear of Standing Still (2024) and New Ways to Lose (2026). American Aquarium shows are honest, story-driven and loud, built on Barham's vivid Southern songwriting and a band that has spent two decades sharpening its craft on the road.
