Book The White Stripes
The White Stripes were the Detroit rock duo of Jack White and Meg White, leaders of the 2000s garage rock revival and multiple Grammy Award winners, beginning with their 2003 album Elephant. Formed in 1997, the pair paired Jack's guitar, piano and vocals with Meg's primal drumming, working within a strict red, white and black visual scheme and a raw, low-fidelity recording approach. After debuting with the single "Let's Shake Hands" (1998), they released The White Stripes (1999) and De Stijl (2000) on the Detroit scene. Their third album, White Blood Cells (2001), with "Fell in Love with a Girl," carried them to the front of the garage rock movement. Elephant (2003) brought their first Grammys and "Seven Nation Army," whose riff became a chant in stadiums around the world. They experimented on Get Behind Me Satan (2005) and returned to their blues roots on Icky Thump (2007), their sixth and final studio album, both of which also won Grammys. After a long break from recording and touring, the band dissolved in 2011, and it was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2025.
