Book The Tragically Hip
The Tragically Hip were the Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario, whose literate songs and powerful live shows made them a national institution. Formed in 1984, the group featured singer Gord Downie, guitarists Paul Langlois and Rob Baker, bassist Gord Sinclair and drummer Johnny Fay, a lineup that stayed together throughout their 33-year run. Their breakthrough album Up to Here (1989) produced "Blow at High Dough" and "New Orleans Is Sinking," and later favorites include "Courage (for Hugh MacLennan)" (1993), "Ahead by a Century" (1996) and "Bobcaygeon" (1998). Key albums include Road Apples (1991), Fully Completely (1992), Day for Night (1994), Trouble at the Henhouse (1996) and Phantom Power (1998). They released 13 studio albums, and nine reached number one in Canada. The band won 17 Juno Awards, including Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year, and entered Canada's Walk of Fame in 2002 and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Their final tour in 2016, ending with a nationally broadcast concert in Kingston, became a shared moment for the whole country. Downie died in 2017.
