Book The Mavericks

The Mavericks are an American band from Miami whose genre-blending sound mixes country, rock and roll, Latin rhythms, Tex-Mex and swing. Formed in 1989 by singer Raul Malo with drummer Paul Deakin and bassist Robert Reynolds, they released one independent album before signing with MCA Nashville, and their third album, What a Crying Shame (1994), became their biggest seller. After four MCA records and one on Mercury, their 1996 collaboration with accordion legend Flaco Jiménez, "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down", became their highest-charting country single at number 13. "Dance the Night Away" (1998) turned into an international hit, and three of their singles reached the top ten in Canada. Across their career they have landed 15 entries on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. After parting ways in 2000, the band returned for an album in 2003 and again in 2012, with guitarist Eddie Perez and keyboardist Jerry Dale McFadden in the lineup, releasing new albums on Valory and their own Mono Mundo label. Following Malo's passing in 2025, the band was back on tour in 2026, with guest singers James Otto and Emily West sharing the vocals.
