Book Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal, born Henry Fredericks, is a blues musician, singer and multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, banjo, piano and harmonica and has spent five decades widening the definition of the blues. His 1968 debut The Natch'l Blues and its follow-up Giant Step in 1969 brought Caribbean, African and Hawaiian rhythms into the genre, and he has released about fifty albums, including Mo' Roots and Music Keeps Me Together. He won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album with Keb' Mo' for TajMo, and he won again for Get on Board, made with Ry Cooder. The Americana Music Association honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance in 2014. His live shows are joyful, genre-crossing journeys, played with his trio, a full band or solo for festivals and theaters.
