Book Sleater-Kinney

Sleater-Kinney are a landmark American rock band, formed in Olympia, Washington, in 1994 by Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein. Born out of the riot grrrl scene, the band grew into a pillar of American indie rock, admired for fierce twin-guitar interplay, Tucker's piercing vocals and outspoken feminist and progressive politics. Their name comes from Sleater Kinney Road in nearby Lacey, close to one of their first practice spaces. Between 1995 and 2005 they issued a run of seven studio albums: Sleater-Kinney (1995), Call the Doctor (1996), Dig Me Out (1997), The Hot Rock (1999), All Hands on the Bad One (2000), One Beat (2002) and The Woods (2005). After splitting in 2006 to pursue solo work, the duo came back together in 2014 and kept building the catalog with No Cities to Love (2015), The Center Won't Hold (2019), Path of Wellness (2021) and Little Rope (2024). Critic Greil Marcus named them America's best rock band in 2001, and in 2015 Stereogum's Tom Breihan ranked them the finest rock band of the prior twenty years. Onstage they deliver taut, urgent rock with decades of anthems behind it.
