Book Simon Phillips
Simon Phillips is an English drummer, songwriter and producer, celebrated as a master of rock and jazz fusion and now based in the United States. He started playing professionally at twelve in his father Sid Phillips's Dixieland band, then moved into pop, rock and theater work, including Jesus Christ Superstar, which opened doors to session drumming. Over the decades he has played with Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Frank Zappa, Peter Gabriel, Stanley Clarke, Gary Moore, Mike Oldfield, Tears for Fears, Big Country, and he drummed for the Who during their 1989 US reunion run. On Judas Priest's Sin After Sin (1977) his double bass drumming helped set the template for heavy metal, heard on "Dissident Aggressor." He also played on Mike Oldfield's Crises (1983), Discovery (1984) and Islands (1987). From 1992 to 2014 he was Toto's drummer. His solo catalog runs from Protocol through Symbiosis (1995), Another Lifetime (1997) and the Protocol series up to Protocol 6 (2026), earning him a Grammy nomination. Phillips brings world-class technique and dazzling live musicianship.
