Book Shane McAnally

Shane McAnally is the Nashville songwriter and producer who has won four Grammy Awards from eleven nominations, including Best Country Song for Kacey Musgraves's "Space Cowboy" and for Kacey Musgraves's "The Architect." Born in Mineral Wells, Texas, he performed in local clubs from age 12 and appeared on Star Search at 14, then moved to Branson, Missouri, at 15 and to Nashville at 19. A demo of his song "Just One Touch" earned him a publishing deal and a contract with Curb Records, which released his self-titled album in 1999; it placed three singles on the Hot Country Songs chart, including "Are Your Eyes Still Blue." After a break from music he returned as a songwriter, scoring his first major success with Lee Ann Womack's "Last Call" in 2008. Since the early 2010s he has worked as a writer and producer for artists including Kacey Musgraves, with whom he co-wrote "Follow Your Arrow," Old Dominion, Midland and Sam Hunt, collecting multiple Country Music Association awards. With Brandy Clark he wrote the Broadway musical Shucked, which earned a 2023 Tony nomination for Best Original Score, and he served as a mentor on NBC's songwriting competition Songland.
