Book Shamir
Las Vegas-born singer-songwriter Shamir is known for a striking countertenor voice and a restless, genre-hopping catalog. He grew up in the city's Northtown neighborhood, which gave its name to his debut EP, Northtown, released in 2014 to warm reviews; Pitchfork praised its opener, "If It Wasn't True", and Flavorwire included that song on its midyear list of 2014 favorites. Later that year he signed to XL Recordings and released "On the Regular", which went on to soundtrack an Android Wear commercial. His debut full-length, Ratchet (2015), featured the single "Call It Off" and announced him as a fresh voice in pop and dance music. He then took an independent path, releasing a steady stream of albums including Hope (2017), Revelations (2017), Resolution (2018), Be the Yee, Here Comes the Haw (2019), Cataclysm (2020), Shamir (2020), Heterosexuality (2022), Homo Anxietatem (2023) and Ten (2025), moving between electronic pop, indie rock and country. Early critics compared his mix of candid songwriting and theatrical flair to Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey. In concert, Shamir pairs a soaring voice with honest, emotionally charged songs.
