Book Reel 2 Real

Reel 2 Real was the American hip house project led by New York DJ and producer Erick Morillo, best remembered for the global party anthem "I Like to Move It." Morillo teamed with Trinidadian rapper and toaster Mark Quashie, known as The Mad Stuntman, whose booming voice became the act's calling card. Their first release, "The New Anthem," spent a week at number one on the US dance chart in 1992. "I Like to Move It" arrived in 1994 and became a smash across Europe, hitting number one in France and the Netherlands, and it later found a new life as the theme of the animated film Madagascar (2005), in a version produced by Morillo. The project landed seven top-ten US club hits in the 1990s, four with The Mad Stuntman, and later singles brought in guests like Proyecto Uno and Barbara Tucker. The albums Move It! (1994) and Are You Ready for Some More? (1996) captured the sound before the name was retired in 1997. Morillo died in 2020. Reel 2 Real's music remains a reliable floor-filler.
