Book Puddle of Mudd
Puddle of Mudd started in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1992, and singer and guitarist Wes Scantlin has been its constant presence. After the indie album Abrasive (1997), a demo tape reached Fred Durst, who brought Scantlin to California to build a new lineup. Come Clean (2001) was their major-label breakthrough, spawning "Control," "Drift & Die," "She Hates Me" and "Blurry," which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned ASCAP honors. "Drift & Die" spent six weeks at number one on the Mainstream Rock chart and "She Hates Me" also topped it, and the album's worldwide sales passed five million copies. They toured with Godsmack and Deftones and joined the Family Values 2001 tour with Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots and Staind. Later albums include Life on Display (2003), Famous (2007), Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate (2009), Welcome to Galvania (2019), Ubiquitous (2023) and Kiss the Machine (2025). Live, they deliver a post-grunge set of radio hits.
