Book Pat Metheny
Pat Metheny is an American jazz guitarist and composer whose lyrical tone and adventurous spirit have made him one of jazz's most celebrated figures. Raised in Lee's Summit, Missouri, he was already teaching at the University of Miami and Berklee College of Music as a teenager. His 1976 debut, Bright Size Life, was followed by Watercolors (1977), and from 1977 to 2010 he led the Pat Metheny Group, while also pursuing duo, trio and solo work. Highlights of a vast catalog include New Chautauqua (1979), 80/81 (1980), As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls (1981), Song X (1986) with Ornette Coleman, Secret Story (1992), Beyond the Missouri Sky (Short Stories) (1997), One Quiet Night (2003), Metheny Mehldau (2006), Orchestrion (2010), Unity Band (2012), From This Place (2020), Dream Box (2023) and MoonDial (2024). Metheny has won 20 Grammy Awards and is the only artist to win Grammys in ten different categories. He was named a NEA Jazz Master in 2018 and entered the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2008. In concert he moves from intimate acoustic guitar to expansive ensemble textures, blending jazz, fusion and Latin influences into music of rare warmth.
