Book Oliver Anthony
Oliver Anthony, born Christopher Anthony Lunsford in 1992, hails from Farmville, Virginia, and writes and sings his own songs. In August 2023 he released "Rich Men North of Richmond" on his own, and the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number one. That made him the first artist ever to open at the top of the chart with no earlier chart history of any kind. The raw, working-class anthem grew out of a video posted online, and it brought him a huge audience in a matter of days. His debut album, Hymnal of a Troubled Man's Mind, followed in 2024. Anthony sings in a gravelly, heartfelt voice with acoustic guitar and harmonica, in the tradition of country, folk and roots music. He has said little about stardom and built his name outside the usual industry system, which keeps his shows plainspoken, personal and focused on the songs.
