Book Midland
Midland earned a Grammy nomination with their debut single, "Drinkin' Problem," which introduced the Texas trio's polished neotraditional country sound in 2016. Based in Dripping Springs, Texas, where they came together in 2014, the trio is lead singer Mark Wystrach, guitarist Jess Carson and bassist Cameron Duddy. The three had crossed paths in the Los Angeles music scene, and they decided to start the group after jamming together on a cabin porch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the week of Duddy's 2013 wedding, where the other two were groomsmen. Signed to Big Machine Records, they released the debut album On the Rocks in 2017 and have placed seven singles on the Billboard country chart: "Drinkin' Problem," "Burn Out," "Make a Little," "Mr. Lonely," "Cheatin' Songs," "Sunrise Tells the Story" and "Longneck Way to Go." Let It Roll followed in 2019, along with the documentary-style collection The Sonic Ranch (2021), The Last Resort: Greetings From (2022), Barely Blue (2024) and Stages (2026). Their sound draws on 1970s and 1980s country, with tight three-part harmonies, steel guitar and honky-tonk swing, and their stylish western look has become part of the act.
