Book Nickel Creek
Nickel Creek is a progressive bluegrass trio made up of mandolinist Chris Thile and siblings Sara Watkins on fiddle and Sean Watkins on guitar, who began playing together as children in Carlsbad, California, in 1989. Their 2000 self-titled album, produced by Alison Krauss, made the group a crossover favorite, and the 2002 follow-up This Side won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Grammy.com lists one win and nine nominations in total. Later albums include Why Should the Fire Die? in 2005, A Dotted Line in 2014 and Celebrants in 2023. Nickel Creek's dazzling instrumental interplay, close harmonies and genre-blurring repertoire keep it a sought-after act for theaters, bluegrass festivals and performing arts centers, where the three musicians trade solos with the ease of lifelong collaborators.
