Book Knower
Knower is an independent electronic jazz-funk duo from Los Angeles led by multi-instrumentalist Louis Cole and singer and keyboardist Genevieve Artadi, who expand to a full band with saxophone, bass and keys on stage. Both studied jazz in Southern California, Cole at USC Thornton and Artadi at Cal State Northridge and Long Beach, and they joined forces in 2009 after meeting through saxophonist Robby Marshall. In 2010 they began posting videos on YouTube, where a quirky cover of Britney Spears's "3" took off with help from Jack Conte, and "Window Shop" earned a front-page feature. Their debut album, Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi (2010), was followed by Think Thoughts (2011), with heavy funk grooves on "Around" and "I Remember," and a collaboration with Pomplamoose on the single "It Goes On." Let Go (2013), Covers (2014), Life (2016) and KNOWER FOREVER (2023) continued their rise as an online success story built without a major label. Knower brings frenetic drumming, slick synth hooks, airy vocals and virtuosic musicianship, creating high-energy live shows that feel equal parts jazz club and dance party.
