Book Jontavious Willis
Jontavious Willis is a Greenville, Georgia singer, songwriter and guitarist who also plays harmonica and banjo, and he is widely seen as one of the bright young keepers of the acoustic blues tradition. He grew up singing gospel beside his grandfather at church before a video of Muddy Waters at age fourteen pulled him toward the blues. Largely self-taught, he mastered Delta, Piedmont and Texas styles as a fingerpicker, flatpicker and slide player, later adding the five-string banjo. Mentored by Keb' Mo' and Taj Mahal, he got a major break in 2015 when Taj Mahal invited him on stage and dubbed him his Wonderboy. His self-released debut, Blue Metamorphosis (2017), drew strong reviews from Living Blues and Blues & Rhythm and won the Best Self-Produced CD Award at the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in 2018. Spectacular Class followed in 2019, opening at number 12 on Billboard's Blues Albums chart, and he has earned a Grammy nomination. Willis delivers deep-rooted guitar work, storytelling and an old-soul voice.
