Book Joe Sumner
Joe Sumner is the English singer-songwriter, vocalist and bassist who fronts the rock band Fiction Plane and released his debut solo album, Sunshine in the Night, in 2023. Born in 1976, he picked up guitar and drums in his teens, and Nirvana's Nevermind set him on the path to songwriting. With school friend Dan Brown he started the band that became Fiction Plane once guitarist Seton Daunt joined. Their debut, Everything Will Never Be OK (2003), was recorded with session drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. before Pete Wilhoit took over drums. Fiction Plane followed with Bitter Forces and Lame Race Horses (2005), Left Side of the Brain (2007), Paradiso (2009), Sparks (2010) and Mondo Lumina (2015), six studio albums in all. The band drew wide attention as the opening act on the Police's 2007 reunion tour, playing stadiums and arenas around the world. Alongside music he co-founded Vyclone, a company that built a multi-angle video recording app. His solo work places his distinctive, high-reaching voice in a more intimate singer-songwriter setting, and he has toured as an opening act performing his own songs.
