Book Jamie xx
Jamie xx is the London producer, DJ and remixer whose solo debut, In Colour (2015), earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album and a Mercury Prize nomination, and who has two Grammy nominations in total. Born James Smith in 1988, he joined his Elliott School friends in the xx in 2006, using a MPC he received for his eighteenth birthday to build the group's minimal beats. He first used the name Jamie xx in 2009 for a promotional mix tied to the band's debut album, xx. In 2011 he remixed Gil Scott-Heron's final album as We're New Here, and his production on that project was reworked into the title track of Drake's Take Care, featuring Rihanna. In Colour included "Gosh," "Loud Places" with Romy and "I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)" with Young Thug and Popcaan. His second album, In Waves (2024), followed with collaborators including Robyn, Honey Dijon and members of the xx. His DJ sets move through house, garage, disco and soul.
