Book Hootie & the Blowfish
Hootie & the Blowfish is the South Carolina rock band behind some of the most beloved radio songs of the 1990s. Formed in Columbia in 1986 by University of South Carolina classmates Darius Rucker and Mark Bryan, the group settled into its long-running lineup with bassist Dean Felber and drummer Jim Sonefeld, and signed with Atlantic Records in 1993. Their debut, Cracked Rear View (1994), became a massive American success, powered by the top-ten singles "Hold My Hand," "Let Her Cry" and "Only Wanna Be with You." The band won two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, and placed 16 singles on various Billboard charts, while also topping the charts three times in Canada. Fairweather Johnson (1996), Musical Chairs (1998), the covers set Scattered, Smothered & Covered (2000), Hootie & the Blowfish (2003) and Looking for Lucky (2005) followed. In 2019 the band staged a full reunion tour and released Imperfect Circle, its first new studio album in fourteen years. Live, they deliver warm harmonies, jangly guitars and Rucker's rich baritone on songs crowds know word for word.
