Book Heartless Bastards
Heartless Bastards are a rock band out of Cincinnati, Ohio, built around the commanding voice and songwriting of Erika Wennerstrom. What began in 2003 as her own recording project grew into a hard-hitting live act after she assembled a band and played her first show at the Comet, a Northside bar. A demo passed along by Patrick Carney of the Black Keys led to a deal with Fat Possum Records in 2004, and the debut Stairs and Elevators drew strong press for its raw, gnarled vocals and big riffs. The band followed with All This Time (2006) and The Mountain (2009), then moved to Brooklyn-based Partisan Records in 2011 for Arrow (2012). Restless Ones (2015) and A Beautiful Life (2021) round out a catalog of six studio albums that blends garage grit, blues weight and wide-open Americana. On stage, Heartless Bastards deliver a muscular, soulful rock show anchored by a singular female voice in independent music, with songs that build from hushed tension to full-throttle release.
