Book Gaelic Storm
Gaelic Storm are the Celtic band famous as the steerage party band in the 1997 film Titanic, whose albums have repeatedly topped Billboard's World Albums chart. The group formed in 1996 when Patrick Murphy, manager of O'Brien's Irish Pub in Santa Monica, California, teamed with Steve Wehmeyer, Steve Twigger and other local players for pub gigs that grew into a regular following. In Titanic they performed four traditional tunes, and two of them appeared on the second soundtrack album as "An Irish Party in Third Class." Their self-titled debut arrived in 1998, followed by Herding Cats (1999), which featured "Blarney Pilgrim." The band went on to release Tree, How Are We Getting Home?, Bring Yer Wellies, What's the Rumpus?, Cabbage, Chicken Boxer, The Boathouse, Matching Sweaters and Go Climb a Tree, mixing traditional Irish and Scottish tunes with original songs in Celtic folk and Celtic rock styles. Fiddle, bagpipes, whistles and bodhrán drive their high-energy shows, which mix rowdy drinking songs, fast reels and humorous banter. They are a fixture of Irish festivals and Celtic music events across North America.
