Book Eric B.
Eric B. is Louis Eric Barrier, a DJ and producer from Queens, New York, who built a signature hip-hop sound around the turntable. While working the decks at WBLS radio in 1985 he went looking for a MC and found Rakim; as Eric B. & Rakim the pair released Paid in Full in 1987, then Follow the Leader in 1988, Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em in 1990 and Don't Sweat the Technique in 1992. His spare, sample-driven beats, first heard on "Eric B. Is President", gave those records their muscle. Later he held an executive and production role at Street Life Records, and he rejoined Rakim for reunion shows beginning in 2017. In 2022 he took the decks for Boombox! A Vegas Residency on Shuffle at Westgate Las Vegas, a hip-hop residency show alongside CeeLo Green, Kid 'N Play, Tone Loc, J.J. Fad and Thea Austin of Snap!, supplying the soundtrack. He has played Officer Mike Gee on Blue Bloods since 2019, hosts the Jet Talk podcast on the Remy Network, and in 2026 released the electronic single "I Just Came By to Party", produced with Freddie Foxxx.
