Book Emmylou Harris

Emmylou Harris is an American singer, songwriter and bandleader who helped shape country rock in the 1970s and the Americana movement in the 1990s. After early folk work in New York, she was mentored by Gram Parsons and then signed with Reprise–Warner Bros., breaking through with Pieces of the Sky (1975). Elite Hotel, Luxury Liner, Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town and Blue Kentucky Girl followed, and by 1980 she had five No. 1 country singles. Albums such as Roses in the Snow (1980) and Evangeline (1981) kept the run going, backed by her celebrated Hot Band. She wrote much of The Ballad of Sally Rose (1985), joined Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt for Trio (1987), and revived interest in Nashville's Ryman Auditorium with the live album At the Ryman. Wrecking Ball (1995) pushed her sound in a new direction, and later highlights include Red Dirt Girl (2000) and Old Yellow Moon (2013) with Rodney Crowell. She has won 13 Grammy Awards from 47 nominations, was CMA Female Vocalist of the Year in 1980, and received the Polar Music Prize in 2015. Her concerts showcase a voice admired across American music.
