Book Destroyer
Destroyer is a Canadian indie rock band founded in Vancouver in 1995 and led by singer and songwriter Dan Bejar, famed for literate, wordy lyrics and a restless urge to reinvent the sound on every record. The project began with lo-fi home recordings on We'll Build Them a Golden Bridge (1996) and the cassette Ideas for Songs (1997), then moved into the studio with longtime producer John Collins for City of Daughters (1998). A long run of acclaimed albums followed, including Thief (2000), Streethawk: A Seduction (2001), This Night (2002), Your Blues (2004), Destroyer’s Rubies (2006) and Trouble in Dreams (2008). Kaputt (2011) followed, and later releases Poison Season (2015), ken (2017), Have We Met (2020) and Labyrinthitis (2022) kept shifting direction. Their latest album is Dan’s Boogie (2025). Alongside Bejar, the current lineup features John Collins, David Carswell, Nicolas Bragg, Ted Bois, JP Carter on trumpet and Joshua Wells on drums. On stage, Destroyer offers a sophisticated, atmospheric show built around Bejar's singular voice and a rich full band.
