Book Tom McRae

Tom McRae is an English singer-songwriter known for hushed, intense vocals and beautifully crafted, emotionally searching songs. Raised by parents who were both vicars, he sang in a church choir, picked up his mother's guitar and learned from heroes like Kate Bush, Bob Dylan and Billy Bragg. After studying politics and government at City of London Polytechnic and playing in several bands, he began working with producer Roger Bechirian, known for records with Elvis Costello and Squeeze, who helped shape his soft-spoken style and led to a deal with db Records. In 2000 Scott Walker invited him to play the Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall, and his self-titled debut, Tom McRae (2000), earned nominations for the Mercury Prize, a Q award and the BRIT Award for Best Newcomer. He followed with Just Like Blood (2003), produced by Ben Hillier, All Maps Welcome (2005), written in California, and King of Cards (2007), recorded in Suffolk. Later albums include The Alphabet of Hurricanes (2010), Did I Sleep and Miss the Border (2015), Ah, the World! Oh, the World! (2017) and Étrange Hiver (2024). McRae's concerts are intimate, spellbinding experiences.
