Book Cautious Clay
Cautious Clay, born Joshua Karpeh, is an American singer, songwriter and producer whose sound blends hip-hop, soul, organic instrumentation and electronic textures. A true multi-instrumentalist, he plays saxophone, flute, guitar, bass, keys and drums, and he first learned production while a student at George Washington University. His 2017 single "Cold War" launched the debut EP Blood Type, and that song was later interpolated on Taylor Swift's "London Boy" from Lover (2019). He followed with the EPs Resonance and Table of Context, collaborated with John Mayer on "Carry Me Away" and "Swim Home," and placed "Erase" on the FIFA 20 soundtrack. His first studio album, Deadpan Love (2021), was supported by his Karma & Friends tour across North America. He has kept up a prolific run since, releasing KARPEH (2023), The Hours: Morning (2025), The Hours: Night (2025) and The Hours: High Noon (2026), giving him five studio albums. He has also played showcases such as the Billy Reid Shindig in Alabama. Live, Cautious Clay offers silky vocals, live sax moments and a moody, modern groove.
