Book Cathy Richardson
Cathy Richardson is a singer-songwriter raised in suburban Chicago and the lead vocalist of Jefferson Starship, which she joined in 2008, appearing on that year's Jefferson's Tree of Liberty. She also fronts her own Cathy Richardson Band and has sung the Janis Joplin parts for Joplin's original group, Big Brother and the Holding Company, at many of their live shows. Her connection to Joplin runs deep: she starred as Janis in the original 2001 off-Broadway production of Love, Janis and much of its touring run. Richardson went full-time in music in 1990, mentored early on by Jim Peterik, who helped shape her first two albums and has featured her in his World Stage concerts. Her releases include Snake Camp (1998) and The Road to Bliss (2003), and the latter's packaging earned her and art director Bill Dolan a Grammy nomination for Best Recording Package. Chicago fans voted her band the city's best local act in 1999 and 2000. Children may know her voice from Noggin's Jack's Big Music Show. Live, she delivers powerhouse, blues-soaked classic rock vocals.
