Book Alela Diane

Hailing from Nevada City, California, singer-songwriter Alela Diane is admired for her warm, earthy voice and intimate folk storytelling. She wrote the songs for The Pirate's Gospel during travels in Europe, recorded them in her father's studio and first released the album herself in 2004 in hand-lettered paper sleeves, before Holocene Music issued a revised edition in 2006 to strong critical praise. Since then she has built a deep catalog that includes Forest Parade (2003), To Be Still (2009) on Rough Trade, Alela Diane & Wild Divine (2011), made with a backing band that featured her father Tom Menig, About Farewell (2013), Cold Moon (2015), Cusp (2018), Looking Glass (2022), the holiday set It’s Always Christmas Somewhere (2023) and Who's Keeping Time? (2026). She also lent her voice to The Silence of Love, a 2008 covers album recorded under the name Headless Heroes. Diane has toured widely across the U.S. and Europe, both solo and alongside Tom Brosseau, and has opened for Iron & Wine, the Decemberists, Vashti Bunyan and Blitzen Trapper. Her shows offer hushed, beautifully crafted songs and a voice that fills a quiet room.
