Book Victor Hedman
Victor Hedman is a Swedish ice hockey defenceman and captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he has become a franchise cornerstone and one of the NHL's elite blueliners. He began with Modo Hockey's junior program and turned pro in Sweden's top league at just 16, earning a SHL Rookie of the Year nomination and topping the European rankings after a strong showing for Sweden at the 2009 World Junior Championships. Tampa Bay chose him second overall in the 2009 NHL draft, right behind John Tavares, and he made his NHL debut that same year. A six-time finalist for the James Norris Memorial Trophy, he won the award as the league's top defenceman in 2018. Hedman led the Lightning to back-to-back Stanley Cup titles in 2020 and 2021, and in 2020 he was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. Combining size, skating and two-way skill, he has spent his entire NHL career with Tampa Bay. Hedman brings a champion's perspective on leadership, consistency and building a winning culture, along with the easygoing humor that has made him a fan favorite on and off the ice.
