Book Sugaray Rayford
Sugaray Rayford is an American singer-songwriter working in soul and blues with a big, church-trained voice and a commanding stage presence. Born in Texas, he sang in church from age seven before turning to contemporary music in San Diego. He fronted Aunt Kizzy's Boyz, whose debut Trunk Full of Blues (2004) earned them a second-place showing at the International Blues Challenge, and he later sang lead on much of The Mannish Boys' album Double Dynamite. His solo career began with Blind Alley in 2010, followed by a run of studio albums: Dangerous (2013), Southside (2015), The World That We Live In (2017), Somebody Save Me (2019), In Too Deep (2022) and Human Decency (2024). Somebody Save Me earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album, and Rayford has collected three Blues Music Awards. Living Blues magazine praised the deep soulfulness rooted in his gospel upbringing. His shows blend Southern soul, classic blues and gospel fire with a showman's energy, giving audiences a genuine, high-octane live experience in the tradition of the great soul revues. He is a powerful, crowd-moving performer for any music-loving audience.
