Book Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert is the comedian, writer, producer and television host who reshaped late-night satire. Raised in South Carolina, he discovered improv at Northwestern University, got his professional start as Steve Carell's understudy at Second City Chicago, and developed the sketch series Exit 57 with Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello before writing for and appearing on The Dana Carvey Show (1996) and co-creating the sitcom Strangers with Candy. His correspondent work on The Daily Show made him a star, and in 2005 he launched The Colbert Report, a pitch-perfect parody of opinion-TV pundits whose very first episode introduced the word "truthiness." He went on to host CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert from 2015 to 2026 and emceed the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2017. Colbert has won Primetime Emmy and Writers Guild of America awards for writing, and he has won two Grammy Awards from three nominations: Best Comedy Album for A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All! and Best Spoken Word Album for America Again. His books include I Am America (And So Can You!). He brings quick wit, warmth and improvisational sparkle to every stage.
