Book Sha Na Na

Sha Na Na are the American group that brought the sounds and style of the 1950s back to life with humor and high energy. Formed in 1969 by students at Columbia University, the group built a song-and-dance show around classic 1950s hits that both celebrated and gently parodied the music and New York street culture of that decade. Their breakout moment came at the Woodstock festival in 1969, where they performed just before Jimi Hendrix closed the event. From 1977 to 1981 they hosted their own syndicated variety series, Sha Na Na, which made them household names, and they appeared as Johnny Casino and the Gamblers in the hit film Grease (1978). The group took its name from the nonsense syllables in the Silhouettes song "Get a Job." Known for gold lamé outfits, leather jackets and pompadour hairstyles, they recorded albums including Shanana (1971), The Night Is Still Young (1972), Hot Sox (1974) and Rockin' Christmas (2017). Longtime members Donny York, Jocko Marcellino and Screamin' Scott Simon carry the show forward, delivering a joyful, nostalgic party for every crowd.
