Book Patrick Roy

Patrick Roy is a Canadian hockey legend, coach and executive, celebrated as the king of goaltenders and voted the greatest goalie in NHL history in a 2004 panel of writers and fans. Nicknamed "Saint Patrick," he spent 11 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens and eight with the Colorado Avalanche, winning the Stanley Cup four times, twice with each club. He remains the only player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP three times, in 1986, 1993 and 2001, spanning three decades and two franchises. His trophy case also holds three Vezina Trophies (1989, 1990, 1992) and five William M. Jennings Trophies, and both Montreal and Colorado have retired his No. 33. Roy is credited with popularizing the butterfly style that now dominates goaltending worldwide, and he was named to the NHL's 100 Greatest Players in 2017. He entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006, along with Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame. Behind the bench he won the 2006 Memorial Cup with the Quebec Remparts, earned the Jack Adams Award in 2014 with Colorado, and coached the New York Islanders from 2024 to 2026.
