Neil Diamond is the American singer-songwriter whose warm baritone and big, emotional choruses made him a fixture of pop music across six decades. Starting as a Brill Building songwriter, he launched his own recording career with The Feel of Neil Diamond (1966) and went on to make dozens of studio albums, including Tap Root Manuscript (1970), Moods (1972) and Beautiful Noise (1976). He wrote and recorded ten singles that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 or Adult Contemporary chart, among them "Cracklin' Rosie" (1970), "Song Sung Blue" (1972), "Longfellow Serenade" (1974), "If You Know What I Mean" (1976), "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" (1978) with Barbra Streisand, "America" (1980) and "Heartlight" (1982). His anthem "Sweet Caroline" (1969) remains a stadium sing-along. He starred in the musical film The Jazz Singer (1980). Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, received Kennedy Center Honors in 2011, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012 and the Johnny Mercer Award in 2018.
