Book Michael Caine

Sir Michael Caine is the retired English actor who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor twice, for Hannah and Her Sisters and The Cider House Rules, during a screen career that spanned eight decades. Born Maurice Micklewhite in London in 1933, he became famous for his Cockney accent and laconic delivery, and he earned Oscar acting nominations in five different decades, a distinction shared by very few actors. His breakthrough came in the 1960s with Zulu, The Ipcress File, Alfie and The Italian Job, when his horn-rimmed glasses and sharp suits made him a style icon. He followed with Get Carter, The Man Who Would Be King, The Eagle Has Landed and A Bridge Too Far. He won the BAFTA and a Golden Globe for Educating Rita and collected three Golden Globes in all, plus a Screen Actors Guild Award. Later generations knew him as Alfred in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, and he also appeared in Nolan's Inception, Interstellar and Tenet. He received a BAFTA Fellowship and was knighted in 2000, and he retired from acting after The Great Escaper (2023). His films remain classics of British and Hollywood cinema.
