Book Martin Kove
Martin Kove is an American actor who created one of pop culture's most famous villains: John Kreese, the ruthless karate sensei of The Karate Kid (1984). He returned to the role in The Karate Kid Part II (1986) and The Karate Kid Part III (1989), and decades later brought Kreese back for a new generation in the series Cobra Kai (2018 to 2025). Trained in community theater and at NYU, Kove got an early break in 1971 as a stand-in for Sean Connery on The Anderson Tapes, and Connery's encouragement helped convince him to head to Los Angeles. Early film work included Women in Revolt, Savages and Cops and Robbers, followed by Capone and Death Race 2000 in 1975. From 1982 to 1988 he was a regular on Cagney & Lacey as Detective Victor Isbecki, and he appeared in Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985). Later credits include Wyatt Earp (1994), The Dog Who Saved Summer (2015), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) and VFW (2020). At fan events and appearances, Kove delivers the menace and humor of Kreese in person for fans old and new.
