Linda Ronstadt is one of the defining American voices of the rock era, a singer who moved with ease across rock, folk, pop, country, soul and traditional Mexican music. She won 11 Grammy Awards, including Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1977 and Best Tropical Latin Album in 1993, plus an Emmy Award, and earned nominations for a Tony and a Golden Globe. Beginning with Hand Sown… Home Grown (1969), her landmark catalog includes Heart Like a Wheel (1974), with the number-one single "You're No Good", Simple Dreams (1977), the standards album What's New (1983), the Spanish-language Canciones de mi padre (1987) and Frenesí (1992). With Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris she recorded Trio (1987) and Trio II (1998). She placed 38 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, ten in the top 10, including "Blue Bayou", "Somewhere Out There" and "Don't Know Much", and topped the Billboard albums chart three times. Her honors include induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, the National Medal of Arts, the Grammy and Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards and the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors. She retired from singing after a career of four decades.
