Book Johnny O
Born Juan Ortiz and raised as a Brooklyn native, Johnny O is a freestyle and dance-pop vocalist who became one of the recognizable voices of the late-1980s freestyle wave. He landed on the Billboard charts in that era with the singles "Fantasy Girl", "Memories" and "Runaway Love", club and radio favorites that still define the sound for many fans. His self-titled debut album Johnny O arrived in 1989, followed by Like a Stranger in 1990 and Call It Watcha Like in 1995. He kept recording well beyond his first run of hits, releasing The Sounds of My Heart in 2002 and Remedy (Grace of God) in 2011. His catalog has also been gathered on several collections, including The Remixes (1993), Best of Johnny O (1997), Johnny O's Greatest Hits (2001), Famous Very Words: The Very Best of Johnny O (2003) and All the Hits and More! (2005). On stage he delivers the polished melodies, romantic hooks and danceable beats that made freestyle a staple of New York clubs, giving audiences a nostalgic set of songs they know by heart.
