Book John Oates

John Oates is the American guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer best known as one half of Hall & Oates, the rock and soul partnership he built with Daryl Hall after the two met at Temple University in Philadelphia. Signed to Atlantic Records in 1972, the duo became a defining pop force of their generation, and Oates co-wrote many of their biggest hits, including "She's Gone", "Sara Smile", "You Make My Dreams", "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", "Maneater", "Out of Touch" and "Adult Education". Beyond the duo, he contributed "(She's the) Shape of Things to Come" to the 1986 film About Last Night and co-wrote the Icehouse hit "Electric Blue". He entered the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004, joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Hall & Oates in 2014, holds a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has five Grammy nominations. His solo albums include Phunk Shui (2003), Mississippi Mile (2011), Arkansas (2018) and OATES (2025), and his memoir Change of Seasons arrived in 2017. On stage he pairs hit songcraft with rootsy, soulful guitar.
