Book Jean-Michel Jarre
Jean-Michel Jarre is a French composer and performer who helped bring electronic music to a mass audience. His 1976 album Oxygène became an international favorite, and Équinoxe, Les Chants magnétiques, Zoolook, Rendez-Vous and Chronologie extended his sound across synthesizers, sequencers and sampling. He is renowned for staging gigantic outdoor concerts in the heart of cities, from Place de la Concorde in Paris to Houston, Moscow, Beijing and the Pyramids of Giza, often with lasers, projections and fireworks. In the 2010s he returned with the collaborative Electronica series, followed by the immersive Oxymore. Honors include Commander of the Legion of Honour, the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication, and service as president of CISAC, the confederation of authors' societies, and an UNESCO goodwill ambassador. Jarre mixes immersive audiovisual technology with a clear voice on creativity, copyright and the future of music.
