Book Helmet
Helmet is a New York City alternative metal band formed in 1989 by guitarist and vocalist Page Hamilton, who remains the one constant through every lineup change. Its first album, Strap It On, came out in 1990 on Amphetamine Reptile, after which the band signed to Interscope and released Meantime in 1992, Betty in 1994 and Aftertaste in 1997. Helmet returned with Size Matters in 2004 and Monochrome in 2006, then Seeing Eye Dog, Dead to the World and, in 2023, Left. Grammy.com lists one Grammy nomination for the band. Hamilton now leads a lineup with drummer Kyle Stevenson, Dan Beeman on guitar and Dave Case on bass, and the group played the 2006 Warped Tour. Helmet's tight, staccato riffs and Hamilton's jazz-trained approach to the guitar shaped the sound of 1990s heavy rock and still define its live sets.
