Book Gary Player

Gary Player is the South African golf legend ranked among the finest players the game has ever produced. Born in Johannesburg, he turned professional at 17 and went on to collect 160-plus professional titles on six continents, nine of them major championships. He won the Open Championship in 1959, the Masters Tournament in 1961 and the PGA Championship in 1962, and his 1965 U.S. Open victory made him the first golfer from outside the United States to complete the career grand slam. Nicknamed "the Black Knight" and "Mr Fitness," he became known worldwide as golf's international ambassador. Player entered the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974, received South Africa's Order of Ikhamanga in Gold in 2003 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2021. Beyond competition he has designed 400-plus courses around the globe and written or co-written 36 books on instruction, design, motivation and fitness. On stage he brings decades of championship stories, a lifelong gospel of discipline and health, and the perspective of a true pioneer of global golf.
