Book Frank Solivan
Frank Solivan is an American mandolinist, composer and recording artist who leads the progressive bluegrass band Dirty Kitchen. Before stepping out as a bandleader, he spent six years in Country Current, the U.S. Navy's country and bluegrass ensemble, joining in 2003 to play electric guitar in the country band and mandolin and fiddle in the bluegrass group. His early solo work includes I Am a Rambler (2002), Upstairs Jam (2003) and Selfish Tears (2006), the last recorded while still in Navy service. With banjo player Mike Munford, guitarist Chris Luquette and bassist Jeremy Middleton, Dirty Kitchen released Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen (2010), On the Edge (2013) after signing with Compass Records, Cold Spell (2014) and If You Can't Stand the Heat (2019). Cold Spell earned a Grammy nomination. His 2016 project Family, Friends & Heroes brought in guests including Del McCoury, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, John Cowan and Rob Ickes. Solivan has also toured with The Earls of Leicester and plays a mandolin he built himself. He brings fiery picking and tight, modern bluegrass to the stage.
