Book Chris Eldridge
Chris "Critter" Eldridge is a Grammy-winning American guitarist and singer, best known as a member of Punch Brothers, the adventurous acoustic band that merges bluegrass instruments with the ambition of classical composition. Raised around bluegrass as the son of Seldom Scene banjoist Ben Eldridge, he studied at Oberlin Conservatory under guitar great Tony Rice and went on to play with the Seldom Scene himself. In 2005 he co-founded The Infamous Stringdusters, whose debut Fork in the Road swept Emerging Artist, Song and Album of the Year honors at the 2007 IBMA awards. With Punch Brothers he has recorded since the 2008 album Punch and shared the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album for All Ashore, part of a career total of ten nominations. He also tours in a celebrated guitar duo with Julian Lage, releasing Avalon (2014) and Mount Royal (2017), and anchored the house band on Prairie Home Companion and Live From Here from 2016 to 2020. Named Instrumentalist of the Year at the 2019 Americana Awards, Eldridge brings dazzling flatpicking, deep tradition and elegant musicianship to every performance.
