Book Eric Holder

Eric Holder is an American attorney and the 82nd Attorney General of the United States from 2009 to 2015, the first African American to hold the office. Born in New York City and a graduate of Columbia College and Columbia Law School after attending Stuyvesant High School, he began his career with the Public Integrity Section of the Justice Department, where he spent twelve years prosecuting public corruption. He later sat on the D.C. Superior Court bench, and in 1993 President Bill Clinton named him the top federal prosecutor for the District of Columbia and later as Deputy Attorney General. After the Clinton years he practiced at the law firm Covington & Burling, then advised Barack Obama during the 2008 campaign and helped lead the vice-presidential search before becoming Obama's first attorney general. He returned to Covington & Burling in 2015 and has also been affiliated with George Washington University. His honors include the John Jay Award and the NAACP Image Award Chairman's Award. As a speaker, Holder offers an insider's view of justice, civil rights, law enforcement and American democracy.
