Book DJ Kool
DJ Kool, born John W. Bowman Jr., is an American rapper and DJ from Washington, D.C., whose years on the city's go-go and rap circuits shaped his party-starting style. After a run of well-liked rap singles he produced during the late '80s, he released The Music Ain't Loud Enuff (1990) and 20 Minute Workout (1994). His signature moment came with the 1996 single "Let Me Clear My Throat," the title track of his album Let Me Clear My Throat (1996) on American Recordings. Built on a sample of the 45 King's "The 900 Number" and opening with a nod to Kool & the Gang's "Hollywood Swinging," the song reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and charted internationally, including the top 10 in the Netherlands. Decades later it remains a dance-floor staple. DJ Kool also appeared on Redman's "Let's Get Dirty (I Can't Get in da Club)" in 2001 and contributed to "Hit the Floor" on "Macho Man" Randy Savage's album Be a Man in 2003. He brings call-and-response energy and an instantly recognizable anthem to any crowd.
